a flash of blue

today I saw  the most brilliant flash of blue dart over the river as I walked the dog.

I've lived here for 14 years, and have been walking my dog along the river banks for over 9 years and this is the first time I've seen a kingfisher! The vivid blue flash is unmistakeable.

These aren't my photos (obviously, as I barely had time to blink and gasp!) I've got them from the RSPB website.

It might be another 14 years before I see another kingfisher so I thought I had better record my delight and amazement.

I went back to Belhaven fruit farm today and picked some more strawberries, this time for freezing for smoothies in the winter months. I picked some redcurrants and blackcurrants too. I didn't know that picking blackcurrants was so hard. My tendons were twanging in agony! Better than a gym workout and some delicious soft fruit to freeze.

Still making progress on my Angee socks, well I have to give my poor tendons something to look forward to!
