I got a fantastic parcel from the US today .
When my swap partner asked me what I would like I said- oh, US stuff, candy, Knitpicks yarn, a herd of alpacas, a space rocket, y'know, American stuff
...and she made this fab space rocket for me!!
It is fantastic and I'm chuffed to bits with it.
There was other fabby stuff in the box too Knitpicks wool, Peaches & Creme cotton, a mug from her college, some tea, some sweets and a cute project bag.
This is such good timing- I was having a mad sort out yesterday putting all my WIPs into bags with the pattern, a pair of scissors and a darning needle etc and I realised I needed one more bag.
I was a bit miffed with myself as Lucia had just been put away, and I was mumbling and grumbling about not wanting to use a carrier bag- but now I have the cute bag with the bluebird on the front! Cool!
More awesome stuff today and on the football front. Sunderland were off to old Trafford to take on Manchester Utd, and I was planning to hide behind the sofa in dread. But we took the lead after SEVEN minutes with a fab goal from Darren bent, Berbatov equalised in the second half, Kenwyne Jones got us ahead again seven minutes later, but Man Utd got the equaliser in extra time (who'd a thunk it?) and worse still it was an own goal, a deflection off Anton Ferdinand.
So near, yet so far. It could have been a famous victory (we haven't beaten them at Old Trafford since 1968). But if anyone had said to me- you can have a point at Old Trafford -I'd have taken it. Not many get that. At the moment we're 6th , but most teams play tomorrow, so we'll probably end up 8th at the end of the weekend. That'll do, and I didn't have to hide behind the sofa (it confuses the dog anyway!).
But if Black Cats fans are cheering and whooping today, we're still not making as much noise as Portsmouth fans who got their first win today. They've had a miserable start to the season, with not a point to their name, but managed a good win against Wolves today. Portsmouth are in a dreadful state as a club, the staff (players, coaches, groundsmen everyone) have not been paid for September, and while this might not have much impact on the players bank accounts (their pride, yes, but not their bank accounts) it must be dreadful for all the other people there who are paid normal wages. You would wonder how that could happen when a rich man, Sulaiman Al Fahim, has just bought the club.
Anyhoo, just off to Mars, better pack some knitting in my new cool bag!
