| Inside the nave of La Sagrada Familia |
one of the most amazing enthralling iconic buildings was consecrated as a church by Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday.
Work began on this church in 1882, then Antoni Gaudi took over as architect in 1883, and changed the design to an unusual organically influenced plan. Hopefully this extraordinary, beautiful church will be complete in 20 years time, approx 100 years after Gaudi's death.
The columns in the nave are unusual, in that they do not follow classical straight lines. The columns seem to be shaped like trees and looking up to the ceiling is rather like looking up to the forest canopy and seeing the sky above.
We've visited Barcelona 4 times since 2003 and we always visit La Sagrada Familia, admiring the beautiful complex structure and Gaudi's work.
Hopefully it won't be too long before we visit it again.

Personaly I have never been but DD has and she is of the same oppinion as yourself
