It was a pleasant afternoon and I wanted to walk a different route, away from the riverbanks which are very muddy from the recent heavy rain, so David showed me one of his routes which is a bit longer than I would normally do, so it's a great way of improving my fitness. I'm feeling a lot better these days and trying to boost my fitness and regain muscle tone by either increasing the distance walked or walking more briskly (but not both at the same time or on the same walk! I'm under strict instructions from my big bruv as to how to manage this improvement.)I had never seen this cute hide before, which looks like a giant birdhouse, although I'm grateful that we don't have any birdlife around here which would use anything this size!
As well as the wooden fungi, I did see some normal fungi which were a lovely toffee colour, a bit different from the usual creamy coloured mushrooms which sometimes appear in my garden.
I was also keeping an eye out for the blackberries starting to ripen. I enjoyed a handful of berries today, and I think I'll have to start carrying a sandwich box with me on the walks so I can pick more to bring home to make a pie, or even bramble jelly.
On the knitting front I had to rip back a piece of doubleknit which had wandered too far away from the pattern. I've restarted it and I'm using stitch markers every 5 stitches so that I can follow the design. I've found it difficult to keep track of the double stitches as I'm using two pastel coulours which are showing a good contrast in the knitted fabric but not so much on the needle.
