and this year's winner of Le Maillot Jaune is Carlos Sastre who showed how cool he was by quaffing champers on the final stretch around Paris.
He seems like such a lovely guy: modest, hardworking, a family man , and darn fast on those wheels.
Cadel Evans came second again, he must have thought it was his race this year, but I'm sure he will come back stronger next year.
I love the tour and one day I hope I will see a stage of it myself. We did go to the Pyrennes in 2005 to see my big bro compete in the amateur stage ( which is on the rest day for the pros but follows the same course, the roads are closed and there's full support for the 8000 or so riders who compete.). The poor lad had an accident on the way to the start was hit by a car, wrecked his bike and bust his knee.
The following year the amateur stage was in the alps finishing at Alpe D'Huez. he started got half way round was dehydrated and along with 4000 others had to abandon the race.
Last year the amateur stage was in Britain from London to Canterbury. He finished it, and I was so proud of him ( he's 52, and not built like a cyclist, he's built more like a wrestler!), but he said it wasn't as good as in France as the roads weren't closed so the cyclists had to stop for traffic lights etc. Well, its more than I could do, I wouldn't even be able to be La Lanterne Rouge ( the last man in the race, the taillight), in fact I wouldn't even be able to drive one of the support cars without knocking over one of the cyclists!
¡So, buenashoras SeƱor Sastre!
