Zut Alors und Gott in Himmel !

the second round of matches is underway and is producing much more entertaining football. Argentina were tremendous against S Korea (4-1) with Messi creating the goals even though he didn't score.
Sadly South Africa were beaten 3-0 by Uruguay and probably won't go through to the knockout stage.
The shock defeat of France by Mexico (2-0) was astounding, the French didn't seem to care, and Mexico played some exciting stuff.
Germany were beaten 1-0 by Serbia today, had Klose sent off and missed a penalty. To be fair, the ref was rubbish (it pains me to say they were robbed, but they were) and Klose's dismissal was harsh, but they didn't look as good as they did against Australia.

Nigeria managed to throw away the lead and lose 2-1 to Greece, and USA were unlucky to only draw 2-2 with Slovenia, as they had a perfectly good late goal disallowed.

I can only hope that England don't bottle it against Algeria tonight!!

I'm making progress on the sock, heel turned and now on shaping the foot gussets, but it's probably best not to knit while watching the match tonight!

D has been to London and Leeds this week on business and was astounded by the number of St George's flags everywhere you look. We live in Scotland, there are NONE here.
