start and finish

Jack has started his African adventure today- we left home at 3.15 am to take him to Edinburgh airport to meet up with the rest of the Mission International volunteers to catch the 6 am flight to Paris, where they will take a flight to Nairobi , heading out to the village of Narok tomorrow.

His cases were stuffed with all kinds of donations and equipment to take to the people of Narok- clothes , medical supplies, stationery, baby blankets, including the baby blankie which I finished last night at 10pm ! (well at least I wasn't weaving in the ends while we were queuing for check in! I did think that I might be doing that!).

The baby cardigan is the first proper garment that I made two years ago, and I've knit on the blanket in between times and while waiting at doctors and dentists appointments for the kids.

And as Jennifer wants to do a similar vounteer trip when she's 16 or 17 I'd better cast on soon for another blankie and cardi!

( he's very pleased with his Panama hat which I bought him for the trip to protect him from the African sun)

That cardigan looks very sweet. I can relate to weaving in the ends at the last minute - I finished a sweater on the way to deliver it to the recipient.
