mine host

I've been busy sewing up the seams of some angels which will be flying round the world in some Christmas swaps.
It took me hours!
I think I'm not really cut out for the complexity of Alan Dart designs. He is a good designer and I've learnt a lot about how a few stitches can make a shape 3 dimensional, but I think I've also learnt to tackle easier projects too! The host is just about ready for posting, although I don't know if I should sew on some tiny beads for eyes or not.

While I was doing that D and J1 were having a miserable time in Newcastle. The Toon scrambled a 2-2 draw against Wigan, and they both felt that it had been awful to watch. However, a point is a point and the Toon were lifted out of the relegation zone.

The Black Cats managed to beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1, which was great as Rovers had thumped us earlier in the week in the Carling Cup. Cissé is fantastic to watch, such speed and skill.
Those 3 precious points made us rocket up the table from 19th to 11th! It's so tight in the bottom half of the table: we have 15 points and West Brom, at the foot of the table, have 11. One team winning changes everything round.
Next weekend we face West Ham at home, and that could be the weekend Zola gets his team into winning ways again. (Hope not!)

I was feeling really dozy on Thursday and Friday and unable to do much ( I even missed Spanish class) so while I was laid low I caught up on some reading - Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher, which is a the story of a wisecracking wizard/detective fighting against all kinds of nasties with the help a cop called Karrie Murphy and a talking skull called Bob. It was very entertaining!

I also read a kid's book by Diana Wynn Jones about the Worlds of Chrestomanci, an alternate universe where magic is the norm. It was delightful and I'll read more of these if J2 can borrow them from the school library for me.
As the cold weather is likely to get worse I think I'll have to invest in some thermals to keep my legs warm as I've been so wobbly and jelly-like this week. Maybe I should knit myself something!
