On Saturday the rain stopped so we had a fun day out in Edinburgh, showed the kids the statue for Greyfriars Bobby (the devoted dog who stayed beside his masters grave for 14 years). It's a lovely statue and a magnet for tourists.Edinburgh is heaving at the moment- the weak pound bringing lots of European visitors and the Edinburgh festival is in full swing too. There's lots of free entertainment in the streets and thousands of shows to go and see. We watched a US dancer performing with 20 hula hoops and a NZ guy fire juggling on top of a high unicycle. Fabulous stuff!
We also visited the Camera Obscura which has some amazing optical illusions and loads of hands on stuff for the kids. I thought we would be in there for 30 mins, but we were in there for nearly 2 hours. It was so engrossing I would go again tomorrow to see everything again.

The Premiership season is now under way and Sunderland got off to a good start beating Bolton 1-0 away.
Our new signing Darren Bent seems to work well with our established striker Kenwyne Jones, so I think we can look forward to a lot more goals this season from their partnership.
Newcastle are still in limbo but got a very good 3-0 win at home against Reading.
