Chelsea took the title from Man Utd by 1 point. It's a long time since the title was decided on the last day, but Chelsea still had to beat Wigan to take the title.
They did that pretty convincingly by marmalising Wigan 8-0. Chelsea also scored the record number of Premier league goals (103) and their player Didier Drogba won the golden boot by being top scorer with 29 goals.
Although Sunderland were beaten on the last day of the season (by Wolves 2-1), we did better than last season, finishing 13th on 44 points (last season 16th, 36 pts), and our best player Darren Bent scored 24, finishing 3rd in the goal table.
Bent has also made it into Capello's initial World Cup squad, and it's quite a while since a Sunderland player has got that kind of recognition. The final squad will be determined on June 1st. So we'll have a short break from football before the World Cup.....I'll just have to cope as best I can.
