After listening to the high drama of Jude the Obscure , sympathising with his struggles to get on in life, and being frustrated with Jude and Sue's reluctance to marry (and then their perverse madness of remarrying their first partners, Phillotson and the conniving Arabella) I felt I needed a change of pitch and tone, and so I've got Northanger Abbey on my mp3 player now, enjoying the light society dramas of naive Catherine and the grasping Thorpes.
An awful lot of people die tragically in Jude's story, whereas the main worries of Bath Spa life is who has the prettiest muslin dress. Just what I need!
But I seem to have got a miserable bug today, headachey & shivering, hot one moment, cold the next. Bah- I should be taking the waters in Bath, I'm sure I would feel much better!
