it's a funny old game...

... football, that is.

Last weekend my team managed to beat one of the best teams in Europe, but this weekend we were beaten by Birmingham, who were at the lower reaches of the table. But, presumably, the team were still feeling overcome by outplaying Liverpool and couldn't concentrate (or more likely, didn't think they had to), so Birmingham turned them over.

Last weekend Villa beat Chelsea, but this weekend were lucky to draw against Wolves. Spurs are challenging for the top, but this weekend they were beaten by Stoke. It's not always easy to predict the results!

So the big match today was Liverpool vs Manchester Utd, and you would think that 'Pool might be feeling upset at last week's debacle and were there for the taking, and that Man Utd would not want Chelsea to hold onto top spot and would make 'Pool nervous. Not so. Even without the formidable Steven Gerrard and dozens of inflatable balls, balloons and whatever thrown on the pitch by cheeky Manchester fans, Liverpool beat the League Champions 2-0.
Ouch.
So glad we played them last week!

Good progress on Crazy Waves even though my team fell apart. The right front is done . I don't want to make the mistake of letting the left front languish so I'm going to start it tonight even though I've some hats & gloves to knit this week for the Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes . The boxes are stacking up nicely- there are 12 in the guest room already and more to come from other people in the village. It's a cheery sight!

Knitting progress is sometimes the only solace when faced with poor play from your team!
