What a great start to the month!
For the first time in 3 years I have been for a swim with J2 (and her pal A.E.). I had promised her a swim and I even got myself ready to go ( bikini line, legs etc). I had thought that I might just lie in the bubble beds and not do any swimming but I did manage 8 lengths ( individually) and I was very pleased with myself.
As she's older now I didn't have to stay with her all the time, and let's face it she's a much better swimmer than me, she has her 400m badge, she's done 2 surfing courses and swum upside down underwater with a motorised fin towing her along!! Much, much better than me!
I stayed in the pool about an hour, enjoyed 2 sets of waves and went down the water slide. When I was dry I sat beside the pool with a bacon roll and a coffee while they stayed in the water for another half an hour. I like Dunbar pool so much, its been well thought out and we all enjoyed it so much.
I used to swim a lot, everywhere I have lived I have used the local pool , and though I'm neither a strong swimmer or even a good swimmer, I used to like to swim regularly. I've missed it so much.
When I worked at Courtaulds I used to go to Peterlee pool with Jenny. It was an Olympic size pool and it was hard work sometimes swimming 50m lengths after growing up using Durham baths, which had a smaller pool 10m by 25 ( it was probaby 12yds by 25 yds!!) . In Newcastle I used the City baths, the pool at Fenham and once went to a very swish pool at Scotswood, which was hardly used at all by the locals.
When J1 was small I took him to Chester-le-Street pool and once to Sunderland. In Edinburgh we used to go to Leith Waterworld which was great fun. I've used the pools in Tranent, Haddington & Musselburgh as well as Dunbar, and ventured to Bonnyrigg to use that pool.
Not having the energy to swim has been a big miss for me. I was relieved and pleased that I wasn't too dozy to drive us home and then was still able to take the pooch for a walk by the river.
The test will be how I feel tomorrow.
An early night beckons I think!

I adore swimming. i belong to a loal gym with warm baby pool and hydro pool. Its very hard when you have no energy to swim, but I forced myself to go even if it was half a lenght of the baby pool. I havnt been for weeks as I cant walk from the changing room to the pool. the distance is just a bit too far. I really miss it.
I'm so glad you went and enjoyed yourself. It really helps when the kids are older and you dont have to watch them the same
