'Miss Nobody'

Rebecca Adlington has won another gold medal in the 800m freestyle, beating the opposition by 6 ( SIX!) seconds. She is amazing!

She described herself as Miss Nobody in an interview:

"Coming into this meet, nobody wanted to speak to me - I was Miss Nobody!" she gasped in glee to the Today programme's John Humphreys, one of the many people waiting to interview her back home. Now the journos & photographers are in their 100's.

She had a disastrous time at the 2007 world championships in Melbourne, failing to make the final and leaving the pool in tears. She promised herself she would be leave in tears again. There may have been tears after the 800m, but she dissolved into a fit of giggles at the catcalls from her male team mates asking if they could have her babies!!

Miss Rebecca Romero has won a medal for Britain before, a silver in 2004, for rowing, but this time she won gold for cycling.

She is the first British woman to win medals in two different summer sports. She beat her team mate Wendy Houvenaghel into silver place.

The Yngling girls ( it sounds like a folk band!) Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson kept ahead of their Dutch rivals to claim gold in rough conditions and seal overall victory in their class.

Ayton and Webb also won gold in Athens with Shirley Robertson.

These are amazing girls. What fantastic inspirational role models, so much better than the vacuous wannabe WAGS.

Phelps now has 8 gold medals, beating Mark Spitz's record. He is phenomenal, and must have the widest shoulders ever!! so no room for another photo of him ( although there have been some cheeky photos of him posted on ravelry!!
