cable delight

I was delighted to get hold of a copy of Interweave Crochet this week (from Pavi Yarns) and thrilled to see Jodi Euchner's wonderful cabled baby blanket Sólás Caomh (Tender Comfort).

I had never realised that crochet could be cabled until I saw some of Jodi's designs on Ravelry.Jodi is a car mechanic by day and designer/indie dyer by night and her etsy shop is at Littlefreak yarns. She has 3 young daughters and delights in designing soft cuddly blankets.

The colours of her yarn are gorgeous. I've bought some for other people and I will treat myself to some later in the year
I was enjoying reading IC yesterday and made a little progress on Cecily - 6 stars done out of the 42 required!
I still need to work on maintaining the right tension of the yarn in my left hand, but I'm happy to keep practising.
While I was trebling and half trebling I was listening to Knitmore girls podcast.
They met a wonderful Russian lady at Stitches West- the lace designer Galina Khmeleva. What a wonderful, warm, witty lady! I could have listened to her for hours: her passion for yarn, for lace, her struggles in communist Russia and her life since, it was all fascinating stuff, and very inspiring .
So- back to my stars I think!
